My husband is blessed to work in what must be the best department that exists at any university, and Ann is one of the reasons for that. When my family moved to San Diego three years ago and had hardly even found our nearest grocery store yet, Ann presented us with the most thoughtful welcome gift! She told us one of her family’s favorite things to do together when her kids were growing up was to go to Cabrillo National Park, affectionately known as “The Point,” which boasts unbeatable views, hiking trails, tide pools, and a historic lighthouse. She had purchased our family a year’s pass to the National Park, and we started putting it to use immediately! I still frequently recall what a kind and warmly-welcoming gesture that was, and I have been inspired to extend such thoughtfulness to others.
As my family has had the privilege of getting to know Ann in the few years since then, she has proven to be just as wonderful as she came across to us in those initial days here. She takes the time to engage with my young children when they visit Daddy’s office, where they like to talk off the ear of anyone who will listen. Ann will listen, every time. And it warms my heart to no end. And she speaks nothing but encouragement to me every time I see her.
As for Dan, back in the days pre-COVID when I would spend quite a bit of time on PLNU’s campus with my kids, we would frequently encounter Dan as he worked diligently to support student athletes, taking care of their uniforms and equipment. He had a quiet, friendly demeanor and a work ethic that could be noticeably observed.
Knowing these qualities of Ann’s and Dan’s, I could only imagine what amazing parents they must also be, and by extension what awesome sons the two of them have likely raised. Sure enough, my time with their family during their session revealed just that. Tyler and Decker are both not only personable and easy to laugh with, but also perfect gentlemen to their sweet mama and encouragers of both their parents. They epitomize a Biblical respect of their parents, and it was such a delight to see them enjoying their family. Ann and Dan have every reason to be so proud of the family they have raised.
What a perfect coincidence it was that this session, which Ann and I have talked about but been unable to successfully schedule for over a year, ended up happening the week of Mother’s Day. Ann, your family is beautiful inside and out, and you are so clearly at the heart of that. Happy Mother’s Day to you, and what a treat it is to know the Davis family!
